In a GDC talk.
The director of Larian Studios and Baldur's Gate 3, Swen Vincke, has held a talk at the GDC (Game Developers Conference) entitled "The Secrets of Baldur's Gate 3". In it, he has confirmed that Larian is not interested in creating DLC or expansions for Baldur's Gate 3, nor does he plan to participate in the development of a possible Baldur's Gate 4.
"We're not a company that's built to create DLCs or expansions. We've tried that a few times, and it's failed every time. It's not worth it. Life is very short and our ambitions are very big."
"We're always going to be proud of it," Vincke said, referring to Baldur's Gate 3, "but we're not going to continue it. We're not going to do expansions, which is what everybody's expecting us to do. Let's leave it behind. We're not going to do Baldur's Gate 4, which is what everybody's expecting us to do. Let's leave it behind. We're going to leave Dungeons & Dragons behind and start doing something new."
"
Relatively recently, this past January, Vincke already hinted on his Twitter account that the studio was working on his next project. Specifically, he stated that he had already finished the first draft of the first act of his next title.
Otherwise, Baldur's Gate 3 continues to be successful wherever it goes. Last year, in our review, we gave it a Must-Have stamp, saying of it that "With modern sensibility, old-school design, and style that lives up to its name, Baldur's Gate 3 achieves everything it sets out to do."
