A monastery built near the Tagus River in Lisbon, by royal decree in 1833, is today considered one of the most important examples of the Portuguese Gothic style, and has been a heritage site since 1983.

Batalha Monastery








Batalha Monastery is one of the most important Gothic sites in Portugal. A monastery built on the site of the famous Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. In the first, the site served as a funerary church for the kings of Portugal, and is also one of the best examples of late Gothic architecture.

A medieval Catholic monastery, one of the first structures in Portugal to be built in the Gothic style, it was an important monastery from a political point of view, and in 1989, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Óbidos Castle





The Castle of Óbidos (Portuguese: Castelo de Óbidos) is a well-preserved medieval castle located in the civil parish of Santa Maria, São Pedro e Sobral da Lagoa, in the municipality of Óbidos, Portuguese District of Leiria. The castle was built in the 12th century, at a time when many fortifications were built in the area, and today it serves as a luxury hotel.

A World Heritage Site built in 1838, it is located high in the Sintra Mountains above the Sintra Municipal District, and is very easy to see from Lisbon when the weather is clear.

The Pena Palace (Portuguese: Palácio da Pena) is a Romanticist castle in São Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra, on the Portuguese Riviera. The castle stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is also used for state occasions by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.

A fortified tower that was built in the year 1521, and the purpose of its construction was to serve as a defense system in the area, and it is listed among the World Heritage Sites.
