Redmi has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the K50 Gaming Edition. The gadget, aimed at the gaming audience, is notable for a powerful processor, complemented by an advanced cooling system, as well as a screen with a high refresh rate and a fast charging function that can "pump" a capacious battery in a matter of minutes.
The face of Redmi K50 Gaming Edition is a 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD + resolution and a hole in the top center for a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 front camera. The screen refresh rate of the novelty is 120 Hz, and the sensor polling rate is 480 Hz. In addition, the display module supports 10-bit color depth and is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with a proprietary cooling system based on two evaporation chambers with a total heat dissipation area of 4860 mm 2 is responsible for the performance of the smartphone . The amount of its RAM is 8 or 12 GB, UFS 3.1 standard drive - 128 or 256 GB in different configurations. The device is focused on mobile gaming - in addition to retractable triggers, it is equipped with a linear vibration motor to improve tactile feedback.
Despite the capacious battery (4700 mAh), the thickness of the body of the gadget with a side fingerprint scanner is only 8.5 mm. Support for a 120-watt power supply provides a full charge of the device in 17 minutes. On the back cover of the device there is a triple main camera with sensors for 64 (Sony IMX686), 8 (ultra wide-angle lens, 120 °) and 2 MP (macro module).
Redmi K50 Gaming Edition runs on MIUI 13 firmware based on Android 12. Among other features of the model, the manufacturer notes JBL stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 6 module, high-precision broadband search technology (UWB), as well as an infrared port for control household appliances. The novelty also has a classic 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The price of a smartphone in the 8/128 GB modification is $520, the 12/128 GB version costs $567, and the gadget with 12 GB of RAM and a 256 GB drive will cost $614. In addition, the company will release a limited edition of 10,000 units of a special version of the device called Redmi K50 Champion Edition, developed in collaboration with the designers of the Mercedes-AMG F1 team. The novelty in the 12/256 GB configuration is priced at $662.
All versions of the smartphone will go on sale in China on February 18, 2022.
