Opera has introduced a new browser Crypto Browser and announced its availability in test mode. It is intended for those who are somehow connected with cryptocurrencies, own digital assets or are simply interested in this topic. The main feature of the application is direct access to Web3 services.
The browser is designed to access decentralized applications (dapps), games and metaverse platforms. It provides a news and data aggregator called Crypto Corner, which collects key information about cryptocurrencies, including the latest news on the topic, prices of crypto assets, commissions, as well as information about crypto events, broadcasts and podcasts.
Like the standard Opera app, the crypto browser has a built-in ad and tracker blocker, as well as built-in support for Telegram and Twitter, accessible through the sidebar. Among the additional features, users have access to decentralized exchanges, Web3-based NFTs, and gaming dapps. The built-in wallet already supports Ethereum in beta, and will work with all major blockchain platforms in the future.
The wallet supports both removable ERC-20 standards and non-removable standards, including ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens, which will be available in the first quarter of 2022. It also allows you to purchase cryptocurrency through the built-in fiat transfer system and directly exchange one type of cryptocurrency for another. In addition, users can check their cryptocurrency balance and transaction fees and use the built-in NFT gallery.
“Interest in Web3 continues to grow, but none of the web browsers available today are designed to work comfortably and securely in this environment. The Opera crypto browser provides users with an easier, faster and more private way to use Web3. At Opera, we believe Web3 should be easy to use in order to unlock the full potential of the decentralized web. We are presenting a beta version of the browser and will wait for feedback from members of the crypto community in order to continue to develop together with them,” said Jorgen Arnesen, executive vice president of the mobile division of Opera.
Cryptobrowser can be run on any Android device with an OS version of at least 7.1.1. PC requires Windows 7+ or macOS X El Capitan 10.11+. Android users can sign up to participate in testing the cryptobrowser . Direct app download available for Windows and macOS:
