The official presentation of the first folding smartphone Honor took place. In Magic V, the manufacturer relied on the quality of the external screen, device performance, reliability and safety, as well as photo capabilities.
According to Honor, the Magic V uses the best external screen among similar devices. It is a 6.45-inch AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, HDR10 + support and 100 percent compliance with the DCI-P3 color spectrum. Thanks to its thin bezels, the display occupies 90% of the display area. This screen is covered with a special glass made of nanocrystals, thanks to which it is five times better protected from drops than in other smartphones. For clarity, the device was even thrown onto the stage during the presentation.
The internal display is not that impressive. With a diagonal of 7.9 inches, its resolution is 2272x1984 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 800 nits. There is support for HDR10 + and full coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum. The panel is covered with a new generation magnetron nano-optical film with an extremely low reflection coefficient, which increases the readability of the picture. In addition, both the internal and external screens support 1920Hz PWM dimming. As a result, the user should not feel the flicker. The Magic V also features the industry's thinnest horizontal internal folding screen hinge, rated for 200,000 openings and closings. When folded, the dimensions of the device are 160.4 x 72.7 x 14.3 mm.
The smartphone is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB storage, depending on the version. Honor claims that in half an hour in a resource-intensive game, the device heats up to only 39.2 degrees Celsius. The battery with a capacity of 4750 mAh with support for 66-watt charging is responsible for autonomy, which allows you to replenish 50% in 15 minutes. The preinstalled operating system is Android 12 with a proprietary interface Magic UI 6. Support for Google services is announced.
The manufacturer said little about the cameras. Selfie modules of 42 megapixels are integrated into the outer and inner screens. On the back there is a block with three more cameras of 50 megapixels each: the main wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and the additional with a spread spectrum.
The Honor Magic V will go on sale on January 18 at a price of $ 1569 for the 12 + 256 GB version, and the 12 + 512 GB version will cost $ 1725.
