Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G + will make mid-range smartphones even more powerful

Qualcomm has unveiled an updated version of its successful mid-range Snapdragon 778G processor. In the Plus version, the performance of both the central and the GPU has been improved, which should improve the user experience in games, as well as when shooting and processing photos and videos.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus

The new Snapdragon 778G Plus uses Kryo 670 cores, clocked at up to 2.5GHz. The video accelerator Adreno 642L with support for OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP and Vulkan 1.1 is used as a graphics subsystem. The games provide the ability to use the technology of optimization of shading Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and display HDR-images with 10-bit color depth. The processor itself is manufactured using a 6nm process technology.

Support for Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology is declared, which allows you to replenish up to 50% of the battery capacity in just 15 minutes. In addition, proprietary Snapdragon Elite Gaming features enhance the gaming experience. So, Qualcomm Game Quick Touch increases the screen response speed to touch by 20%.

Of the wireless interfaces, 5G (both in the millimeter-wave and below 6 GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E are supported. In addition, the processor supports screens with refresh rates up to 144 Hz, cameras with resolutions up to 64 megapixels, and the ability to record 4K HDR video.

Xiaomi has already announced plans to use Snapdragon 778G Plus in its devices. They are expected to be released later this year or early next.
