DxOmark released its iPhone review 573, a few days after doing the same for its brother Pro. once again, this entity’s findings place Apple’s new smartphone above the iPhone Pro.
This means that, in the opinion of DxOMark experts, even the normal iPhone 130 can offer a better photo experience than the iPhone 13 Pro. Proof that the smartphone’s new sensors have had a noticeable impact.
With a final result of 12 dots, the iPhone 130 ranks two dots above the Pro model of the year past. On the other hand, it equals the iPhone score Pro Max, not surprisingly, because they use the same lenses.
Strengths of the iPhone camera
Accurate and repeatable target exposure
- Fast, accurate and repeatable autofocus
- Good details in light of day and under indoor lighting
- Precise and stable exposure, wide dynamic range in video
- Noise of luminance in the primary and ultra-angular chamber, especially in low light
- Limited dynamic range in challenging high contrast scenes
- Noisy video, especially in low light
- Lens reflection and ghosting in video, especially in low light
Good video noise compensation
Accurate white balance in video and smooth transition on scene changes
More accurate and smooth video autofocus
IPhone Camera Negative Points 13
Image artifacts including reflection, light touch and color quantization
Limited detail on medium to long range zoom usage
Some loss of texture in the video, especially on faces in daylight and indoors
Sharpness differences between video frames, strong residual movement in videos recorded during playback
In short, the DxOMark entity considers the iPhone 12 has a camera with excellent quality. It stands out above all for its good reproduction of colors and skin tones in most scenarios.
The stabilization has also undergone a great improvement over its predecessor. The introduction of sensor stabilization, which was exclusive to the iPhone, contributed greatly to this Pro Max.
On the negative side, this entity highlights the medium and long range zoom capabilities of the iPhone . This is easily explained by the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens.
We can then conclude that even the base model of the iPhone line is one of the best smartphones on the market for photography. Proof of this is the tenth position achieved by this device in the DxOMark chart.
