According to industry sources, after the premiere of the iPhone 13, not everyone will be able to purchase a new smartphone. And it's not about the increased demand - as it turned out, the problems arose with the key suppliers of components for Apple devices.
Two companies have suffered from the next wave of the coronavirus epidemic. Murata Manufacturing is the largest supplier of multilayer ceramic capacitors, accounting for 40% of global shipments. Last week, the manufacturer was forced to close one of its largest factories due to 98 confirmed cases of employees with coronavirus.
In addition, Japan's Taiyo Yuden, which specializes in electronic products, was forced to cut production at its Malaysian plant this month. In connection with the pandemic, the government of the country demanded that the brand leave no more than 60% of workers at the plant. The forced reduction of personnel allows using a maximum of 80% of production capacity.
According to rumors, shortage of new Apple smartphones should be expected immediately after the release. Analysts do not report a possible increase in prices due to limited supply volumes.
