Intel has introduced a new Intel Arc brand for its high-performance graphics solutions . It is planned to combine equipment, software and services of several generations under it. The first generation will be based on the Xe-HPG microarchitecture.
New products of the first generation will appear in the 1st quarter of 2022. This product group will be collectively referred to as Alchemist. It will replace the previous products and services that were previously released under the name DG2.
Intel has also revealed codenames for its other Arc brand products: Battlemage, Celestial and Druid.
Intel's new Arc brand is targeting professional gamers and content creators, Intel reports. Intel seeks to bring together under the new brand of users who are keen on high quality graphics and advanced hardware capabilities of graphics products and services, strive for a harmonious combination of available software tools.
The new Intel Arc graphics products are based on the Xe-HPG microarchitecture and the convergence of the Intel Xe-LP, HP and HPC microarchitectures. Taking these directions, Intel intends to provide scalability and compute efficiency while accepting the need to equip them with advanced graphics capabilities.
The first generation Intel Arc products (Alchemist) will use hardware ray tracing and AI-based supersampling, and will also provide full support for DirectX 12 Ultimate.
