Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp ban Taliban-related content

With the Taliban gaining power in Afghanistan, Facebook has announced that since it considers the Taliban a terrorist group, it has banned the publication of any content related to the group on its main platform, as well as Instagram and WhatsApp.

The social network told CNBC News that the group is a terrorist group and has formed a dedicated team to monitor and remove posts, images, videos and other content related to the Taliban from its platforms.

The Taliban, which has recently taken control of many parts of Afghanistan, is considered a terrorist organization under US law, according to Facebook, and a Facebook spokesman said the law was based on such bans:

"The Taliban are sanctioned under US law as a terrorist organization, and we have banned them from our services in accordance with the policies of dangerous organizations."

In this regard, Facebook deletes all accounts of the Taliban or people associated with the Taliban, and does the same for the supporters and supporters of this group. According to a Facebook spokesman, the social network uses Afghan experts:

"We have also formed a special team of Afghan experts and their mother tongue is Pashto and Dari. "They also know about local content and help us identify inappropriate content."

Facebook has said it will not decide whether the Taliban should be recognized as a national government. The social network is said to follow international law.

The Taliban reportedly continue to use WhatsApp to communicate. These messengers use universal encryption technology, so Facebook can not see the content inside. However, a WhatsApp spokesman said that he would take the necessary measures if he was aware of the presence of sanctioned individuals or organizations on the platform.

A Facebook spokesman also said that WhatsApp uses artificial intelligence software to evaluate the group's unencrypted data, such as letters, profile pictures or group descriptions, to take legal action.

Currently, Twitter and Tikotak have not commented on action against Taliban-related content, and YouTube says its rules are the same for everyone.
