After releasing a few teasers, Akyura finally unveiled the new version of NSX with the Type S extension. This version is the fastest, strongest and most agile member of its family, and then the second generation NSX will not be produced anymore. According to Akyura, only 350 of this version will be sold, of which 300 are in the US market.
The Type S looks like a facelift for the current generation NSX. Tougher bumpers with larger slots, more prominent front splitter, rear carbon fiber diffuser, dedicated matt alloys in matte gray or glossy black, 0.4- and 0.8-inch wide front and rear axles, carbon fiber roof and side sills, and carbon fiber side sills. And black handles are among the NSX Type S appearance features.
The gray model is limited to 70 units
The Akura NSX Type S is powered by the same hybrid engine with a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and three electric motors. The output of this engine, according to some updates, has been upgraded to 600 horsepower and 667 Nm of torque, which compared to the standard model, these figures are 27 and 22 units more, respectively.
The 3.5-liter V6 engine alone has 520 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque
The task of transmitting power to the wheels has been assigned to the same 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox. With the revisions made to this gearbox, the gearbox speed has been increased by 50%, while the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD torque distribution system has also been adjusted for better performance in the corners.
Pirelli P-Zero tires with 245 / 35ZR19 specifications at the front and 305 / 30ZR20 at the rear are exclusive to NSX Type S
For those looking for the best possible performance, Akura has a $ 13,000 option called the Lightweight Package. This package includes items such as carbon-ceramic discs made by Brembo, carbon fiber coating of the engine and carbon fiber components inside the cabin and reduces the total weight of the car by 26.2 kg.
There are no widespread changes in the interior. Using the new Alcantara roof cover, the Type S logo on the dashboard, contrasting stitching and the NSX logo on the back of the series are some of the features of this version inside the cabin.
Akyura did not comment on factors such as acceleration or speed, but said the NSX Type S record at the Suzuka track was two seconds better than the 2021 NSX.
And but the price; Honda luxury brand Akura has set a base price of $ 169,500 for the NSX Type S, which could increase to $ 182,500 if the Lightweight Package option is ordered. An additional $ 1,995 will be added to these shipping costs. Those interested in buying this Japanese sports car can place their orders now on the Akyura website.
