Facebook Messenger: a new search bar for emojis

Facebook is improving its instant messaging service by relying on emojis.

Facebook Messenger: a new search bar for emojis

Every day, more than 2.4 billion messages sent to Facebook Messenger contain emojis. An impressive figure which explains why the social network continually seeks to improve their use. Today, Facebook announces two updates : the arrival of a search bar and the appearance of recent reactions.

Search bar and recent reactions, for ease of use

Messenger now offers an emoji search bar for message reactions that makes it easier to find an emoji, by typing the keyword that matches the symbol you are looking for. Enough to save time for users, who will no longer need to scroll indefinitely to find the emoji that will best match the emotion they want to convey.

Another improvement: Facebook Messenger has added a new "Recent" space , which groups together all the emojis used recently, which allows you to quickly access your favorite emojis! In total, the 18 most recent emojis will appear in this category.

In order to access these new features, all you have to do is open a Messenger conversation and then long press the message you want to react to. Then click on the "+" symbol , and voila! The search bar and recent reactions will appear on the tab dedicated to emojis. Facebook said this update is already being rolled out around the world.

The social network seems to want to bet big on emojis to continuously improve its instant messaging service and retain its users. In the same vein, Facebook announced last week the arrival of sound emojis on Messenger : Soundmojis.
