Mysterious 24-core Intel processor clocked at 5.9 GHz on PassMark

A mysterious 24-core Intel processor has been spotted in the PassMark database , which could be an engineering example of Alder Lake or Raptor Lake generation processors. This processor has a frequency of 5.9 GHz.

This Intel processor is equipped with 24 cores and 24 strings and bears the code name Intel Genuine 0000. In fact, we are dealing with an engineering example that is in the second quarter of 2021 in PaasMark.

Mysterious 24-core Intel processor clocked at 5.9 GHz on PassMark

According to reports, the highest processor in the Alder Lake series uses 16 cores and 24 cores , including 8 Golden Cove cores with 8 cores and 8 Gracemont cores with 16 cores. So it is possible that we are dealing with a new processor from this series or that PassMark made a mistake in counting the cores of this processor.

If PassMark is not mistaken, this processor may belong to the next generation Alder Lake called Raptor Lake. These processors are said to use more strings than Alder Lake, but we do not know the exact configuration. Another thing that can be seen in PassMark is the 5.9 GHz frequency of the new processor, which is very high in standard mode (and without overclocking).

Other interesting details include the processor's support for the AVX-512 instructions, as well as performance similar to the older 10th generation Intel Comet Lake-S processor. So PassMark is probably wrong, but it is also possible that Intel is working on a specific processor and more information will be released in the coming weeks.

Intel Alder Lake processors are expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2021 and be the first consumer platform to support DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 technologies. In addition, Intel will use a new hybrid architecture in these processors that Windows 11 with its optimizations can increase the performance of products equipped with them.
