One month ago, OnePlus and Oppo announced the merger of R&D teams , and now the two Chinese companies have announced a further merger. In other words, these companies are merging.
Under the agreement , the two brands will share their teams and resources, something that has been done in the past to some extent, however, OnePlus continues to operate independently.
These companies have been working together in news silence for years, however, the recent move seems to make the business aspect more definite and customers will not experience much change, although OnePlus says it will provide updates to users faster:
"This integration will mean access to more resources to create better products for users. "It allows us to be more productive, for example, to release software updates more consistently and faster."
We do not know how OnePlus wants to achieve such a goal. The OnePlus and Oppo software teams are currently working separately, so we'll have to wait and see how their integration can speed up the release process of updates.
It is possible that with the merger of these companies, OnePlus will launch more affordable handsets. For example, it is said that the OnePlus Rolling 2 is the same as the X9 Pro real phone with a different brand. Rilmi is a subsidiary of Oppo, and last year the N100 roller coaster was actually the Oppo A53.
It is only through time that we realize how this merger will affect the performance of these companies in the market and what benefits it will bring to users. The merger of OnePlus and Oppo appears to be similar to Huawei's relationship with Honor, even before Huawei sold the Honor brand due to US sanctions.
