Twitter continues to launch new ways to monetize its users, and in the latest move has released details of a new Spaces event ticketing system. The company recently enabled a ClubHouse-like feature for users with at least 600 followers to have voice chats . This feature now requires users to first purchase a ticket to enter the chat rooms.
The hosts in these rooms, apparently called Ticketed Spaces, can set the price and maximum number of tickets. "Hosts can earn up to 80 percent of their ticket sales after deducting in-app payments," said a Twitter spokesman . This means that Twitter, apart from Google and Apple, accounts for about 20% of in-app payments for Android and iOS apps. Ticketed Spaces will use the Stripe service for payments, and users will need to create an account on the platform.
Users who want to use this new feature must have at least 1000 followers. In addition, the minimum age for using Ticketed Spaces is 18 years or more, and any user who wants to set up these rooms must have held at least three Spaces events in the last 30 days.
According to a Twitter spokesperson, users can apply to participate in the trial of this service. The first selected hosts will be selected a few weeks after receiving the applications. Although all users in the world can buy tickets to attend Ticketed Spaces events, currently only American users can sell tickets.
It is not clear at this time when the Ticketed Spaces registration system will open, but given that the Spaces service became available to more users last month, there does not appear to be much time left for this new feature to launch.
