Today, MediaTek unveiled its new mobile chip called Dimensity 900. This semiconductor is produced using a 6-nanometer process. Dimensity 900 is the latest processor in the Dimensity 5G series. The chip is capable of recording 4K HDR videos at the hardware level and supports a camera with a maximum resolution of 108 megapixels, 5G Dual Netcom capability and 6 WiFi connectivity. In addition, this semiconductor can be used in gadgets equipped with a 120 Hz full-HD or ultra-HD display.
Dr. Zhou Jing Quan; "The Dimensity 900 chip supports advanced wireless connectivity, a high-resolution display and 4K HDR video quality enhancement capabilities, and targets the global high-end product market," said a senior vice president and chief operating officer of MediaTek. This product has a high degree of design for terminal products. Dimensity 900 supports 5G and WiFi 6 connections; "Ability to allow consumers to enjoy a stable and fast network performance experience on terminal devices."
The Dimensity 900 chip uses an 8-core CPU. This processor is equipped with 2 cores of ARM Cortex-A78 with a frequency of 2.4 GHz and 6 cores of ARM Cortex-A55 with a frequency of 2.0 GHz and high energy efficiency. In addition, the new MediaTek chip is equipped with the ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU and uses a high-energy artificial intelligence processor (MediaTek 3rd generation APU). The chip will support LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 internal storage and displays with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Dimensity 900 chip fully supports the integration technology of 2 5G telecommunication carriers and 5G waves with a frequency of less than 6 GHz. This means that the chip can reach a maximum bandwidth of 120 MHz and support SA / NSA networks. The chip also supports the ability to standby two SIM cards simultaneously on a 5G network and VoNR services on two SIM cards. MediaTek has used 5G UltraSave Electricity technology with its new chip to reduce energy consumption as much as possible. The overall performance of the chip will increase the battery life of the device.
Features of MediaTek Dimensity 900 chip
- Ability to create high quality images: The Dimensity 900 chip supports MediaTek Imagiq 5.0 image processing technology. The chip is also equipped with a multi-core ISP and a dedicated engine for recording 4K HDR video at the hardware level. The chip integrates 3D noise canceling (3DNR) and multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR) technologies and supports a camera with a maximum resolution of 108 megapixels; This is the current high limit in the industry.
- More powerful AI camera app: This chip uses MediaTek's third generation APU. This APU is able to perform floating point calculations with INT16, INT8 and FP16 accuracy. This feature will enhance the camera performance experience thanks to its efficient artificial intelligence. The APU also supports intelligent white balance adjustment, intelligent autofocus, and other photography-related operations.
- Stunning video quality: Using the MediaTek MiraVision image processing engine in the chip helps to intelligently adjust the image quality while playing videos. This feature will play an important role in improving the quality of colors, brightness, contrast, sharpness and dynamic range. In addition, the above feature will improve the quality of SDR videos to a degree close to HDR samples, thanks to the use of display effects. HDR10 content is also upgraded to HDR10 + and HDR10 + video playback is supported. In general, the instant improvement of image quality during playback will improve the quality of video images.
- Advanced Network Connection: The Dimensity 900 chip supports 2 SIM card connection technology and their simultaneous standby on a 5G network platform. In addition, both SIM cards will support fifth generation SA / NSA networks and VoNR voice services. 2 M 2 MIMO antenna, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and GNSS are the other communication features of the chip.
- Smooth gaming experience: The chip supports MediaTek HyperEngine technology and parallel dual-SIM function for gaming calls. 5G high speed connection and Super hotspot game mode allow users to enjoy their gaming experience to the fullest.
MediaTek currently has 6 different Dimensity 5G chips with the names of 1200, 1100, 1000, 900, 800 and 700. These chips are available in global markets and according to reports, the Dimensity 900 chip will be released in the second quarter of 2021.
