During the NFC Forum, supported by Apple, the adoption of a protocol with new wireless charging specifications was announced. This novelty implies the availability of a standard that would allow smartphones to power smaller devices wirelessly, via near field communication (NFC).
The adoption of a new "Wireless Charging Specification" (WLC) by the NFC association is based on a single antenna to carry data communications and transfer energy to compatible equipment at a speed of up to 1 watt. A minimal amount, but enough to give a quick boost to low-power Internet of Things devices like headsets, smart pens, smartwatch, etc.

A similar possibility was considered last year before the presentation of the iPhone 11. However, sharing the load with other devices, a function already available on mobile phones from other companies, was out of the game due to “efficiency” problems.
After the presentation of the protocol, it is estimated that this type of "bilateral" wireless charging could arrive on future iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods. Although, the Apple iPhone series 12 may have bilateral wireless charging capabilities, it will do so with Qi standards more commonly used, which are also used for iPhone chargers, AirPods that we know of. To include the proposal made at the forum, the company would have to renew internal components and bring NFC technology to many of its existing product lines.
The declaration of this possibility as a standard, allows it to be integrated by all manufacturers , instead of each one working on an individual solution, making it useful for more users with different devices.
