Vivo, the Chinese Smartphone maker that has slowly grasped the Indian smartphone market in the past few years, is a brand that almost everyone is aware of. The handset
maker rose to fame with its budget smartphone and more recently with its Nex-branded smartphone, One of the highlights of which was the rather 'Unique' pop-up camera, mechanism. Vivo seems to have carried forward the feature this in 2019 as well with the Vivo V15 Pro, a mid-ranger that is being touted for its camera performance and the true bezel-less that not many handsets are not able to achieve.
Design
Vivo V15 Pro looks just like any other Vivo mid-ranger from the front. You get a notch-less, immersive screen. However, what’s different this time is the back side that has a triple rear camera setup placed in a vertical fashion on the top-left with a pill-shape enclosure at the bottom that merges all the way to the top bezel. That’s interesting and fortunately, not an attention seeker.
Performance
Vivo V15 Pro is as good in the overall performance arena as it is in the display arena. The smartphone runs all the apps, browser tabs and pretty much anything you throw at it, without stressing too much. You can stop worrying about the heating issues and the fact that all the functionalities work flawlessly, gives a certain sense of reliability on the device. The component here that gets the credit for all this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, which is fairly new and something you don’t have in most smartphones for now. Only Xiaomi’s recently launched Redmi Note 7 Pro can boast of this processor apart from Vivo. Supporting the processor is 6GB RAM, which might be the new ‘basic’ with mid-rangers now, but is still more than what one actually needs (unless you’re strictly specs and number person).
Camera
The camera is one of the most highlighted and marketed features in the Vivo V15 Pro. The front-facing pop-up camera has an f/2.0 aperture and is quick to shoot. It also equips an autofocus sensor and hardly takes time to adjust focus from foreground to background and back. That being said, the front-facing camera is really good, not for those who are seeking the most natural shot, but those who click to look good and post their selfies on Instagram.
Display
Display, ever since last year, is no more a technological hurdle given it has seen several major improvements from notches to more compact ‘waterdrop’ notch to eventually bezel-less screens. Vivo, being at the forefront of it, has made it's Vivo V15 Pro virtually bezel-less. The smartphone sports a 6.39-inch Ultra FullView display with FHD+ (2340×1080 pixels) screen and a 91.6% screen to body ratio. This not just sounds good but is also good in real life usage. The screen can get incredibly bright and is saturated with the required color punch, courtesy the Super AMOLED display.
