Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 again shows all its power

It was last December that we got to know about the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. This is the latest top-end smartphone processor developed by the American company. A SoC that has not yet hit the market but already makes the mouth water.

It was from the moment of its presentation that Qualcomm promised a huge increase in performance with its Snapdragon 855. The American advertised 45% more performance and 25% more energy efficiency when compared to Snapdragon 845.

It's easy to talk in numbers but what users want to see is the performance on a daily basis. What we all want is a smartphone capable of handling all sorts of tasks that we propose to you, without great difficulties.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 goes through Geekbench again

Although the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 does not yet run on any smartphone in the market, the clues to its performance begin to arrive. Not long ago we saw that it will be the first smartphone to hit the market with this SoC go through AnTuTu.

According to a survey, the purchase of a new smartphone is among the priorities of Italians

In fact, the result was totally overwhelming for any competitor currently on the market. Apple A12 Bionic or Kirin 980 that could cope with it. The Lenovo Z5 GT Pro was able to raise a total of 368,480 points.

This time we have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 to go through Geekbench and to raze again with all Android competition. Information that comes to our attention through the publication Gizmochina.

Therefore, the 3545 single-core points and the 11150 multi-core points leave no room for doubt. However, it should be noted that even then, the Snapdragon 855 was not able to outperform the Apple A12 Bionic on this platform.

It should be noted that this platform does not specify which device was used as the vehicle for this test. The only information we can pick up is that the smartphone in question has 6GB of RAM and runs Android Pie 9.

Thus, it is most likely that a prototype was used only for this purpose. This means that other results may emerge in the future when properly optimized smartphones are used to reach users.

What brings the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 back to the market?

It is a SoC composed of eight processing cores, with different frequencies for different conditions. In fact, we have three cores running at 2.42GHz that will handle the most demanding tasks.

Then we have four more cores running at 1.78GHz for the simplest tasks. Finally, we have another core running at 2.84GHz to give a small performance boost to the processor.

Another of the highlights of this Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence. According to the company of semi-conductors, we will have a performance three times higher, in this type of tasks, compared to its predecessor.

Last but certainly not least, we have its 5G connectivity. It is thanks to the new Snapdragon X24 modem that we will have the bridge that many expect between the 4G era and the coming 5G era.

It remains to put all this power at the disposal of users. This will begin to occur in the coming months with the presentation of the first big top of the market and the arrival to the market of device such as the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT.
