The editors of the portal 9to5mac.com have received access to the latest CAD drawings of the iPhone 15 Pro, which allegedly come directly from Apple headquarters. Based on the information they had, they created high-quality 3D renders revealing what the expected device would look like.
The biggest change is the titanium frame with slightly rounded edges for a more comfortable grip. Apparently, Apple decided to heed the criticism of sharp edges in recent generations - such a design does have problems with ergonomics.
The camera module on the back will retain its size, but individual lenses will begin to bulge even more than in the case of the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple is reportedly planning to upgrade the cameras and use new sensors that can capture more light while still producing better results in underexposed or overexposed scenes.
All new iPhones will feature a Type-C port instead of the classic Lighting connector, and the mechanical volume rocker on the left side will be replaced with a touch surface with tactile vibration feedback. The functions of the new "switch" can be configured, but it is not yet clear what freedom Apple will offer the user.
The bezels around the display, for which Apple is often (and quite rightly) criticized, will also be reduced. In the iPhone 15 Pro, their thickness will be 1.55 millimeters. For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro uses 2.17mm bezels, while the Galaxy S23 uses 1.95mm. So, if by September no other manufacturer introduces a smartphone with even thinner frames, the iPhone will be the champion in this regard.
Overall dimensions of new items should be 70.46 x 146.47 x 8.24 mm. The current iPhone 14 Pro measures 71.45 x 147.46 x 7.84mm. The height and width will decrease slightly due to thinner frames, while the thickness, on the contrary, will increase by 0.4 mm, which is unlikely to be noticeable in practice.
In addition to the classic white, black and gold, we can also expect a new burgundy color to replace the current purple version. The official presentation of the new iPhone 15 will traditionally take place in September 2023.
