The patent-driven legal battle between Apple and Ericsson is over

The patent infringement battle between Apple and Ericsson has been going on for a very long time. In fact, Ericsson won one of the Colombia- based lawsuits in the past months, where Apple proved that it violated its own patents in the 5G hardware used in iPhones. In this context, the court banned the sale of iPhone 12 and 13 series with 5G and iPad Pro models with 5G in Colombia . The technology giant stated that Apple violated the internationally applied FRAND rule ( fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory) specific to Ericsson's licensing of standard-based patents.According to Apple's statement, Ericsson wanted a very high amount for the patent license fee.

The duo, who has been in a major legal battle since 2015 , didn't seem to be able to get along anytime soon, but this was not surprisingly so. The agreement was reached before the Colombian-based ban spread to other countries.

According to the statement, the agreement includes a license for the use of patented cellular technologies and includes some other patent rights. It is also among the information received that Ericsson and Apple have mutually agreed to develop technology and strengthen their cooperation . Due to the conclusion of a global patent license agreement, lawsuits filed by both companies in various countries are also being terminated. Alongside the Apple and Ericsson events.
