Due to a new wave of coronavirus pandemic in China, the Japanese authorities are tightening the rules for entering the country from China. The measures will come into effect on December 30. This was announced on Tuesday by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, reports today, December 27, TASS.
“Those arriving from China or who have been there in the past seven days [must] take a test [for coronavirus] upon entering Japan. In case of a positive result, you will have to spend seven days in quarantine.”
Japan currently exempts travelers who have received three Covid-19 vaccinations with vaccines recognized by the Japanese authorities from taking a coronavirus test. The rest must provide a certificate of a negative test result for coronavirus, made 72 hours before departure to Japan.
In December, the Chinese authorities significantly eased anti-coronavirus restrictions, after which mass Covid-19 infection began in the country. Most of those infected are being treated at home and are not included in official statistics. In addition, a decision was made to lift the mandatory quarantine for arrivals in China from January 8.
