Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Passes Repairability Test [VIDEO]

Tech blogger Zach Nelson dismantled the flagship smartphone to assess the complexity of its repair. Having reached the “inner world” of the gadget, he also studied its design in detail, paying special attention to the S Pen compartment.

The back cover of the smartphone was carefully glued around the perimeter - to remove it, the blogger needed a special hair dryer, a suction cup and a clerical knife blade. A wireless charging coil was found under the “hood”, with the dismantling of which there were no problems. After unscrewing 15 standard Philips screws, Nelson unhooked the NFC module and the main speaker. Three more fasteners held the charge socket board.

On the inside of the case and around the USB Type-C port, silicone inserts were found to prevent water from entering the gadget. To remove the battery, I had to use a solvent due to the lack of a special tongue that allows you to pull the adhesive tape from under this element.

The blogger also studied the motherboard with a "sandwich" design and a camera module, all of whose sensors are fixed on a common metal substrate. When he reached the compartment for the stylus, he found out that it is securely separated from other components of the device by waterproof material, and will not cause the smartphone to break even when filled with water. Summing up the results of the disassembly, the author of the video recognized the Galaxy S22 Ultra as a completely repairable device, complaining only about the difficulty of replacing the battery.
