After releasing several beta versions of the new firmware, the company presented it on its official blog. Highlighting the key features of the operating system, Google finally announced which brand devices will be among the first to switch to it, and also hinted at the release date for the release version of Android 12L.
Among the features of the “tablet” OS, developers highlight the updated notification menu interface in the form of a separate column adjacent to the quick settings tiles. Another important element of the firmware is the taskbar, where you can save shortcuts to frequently used programs for quick launch. In addition, the user can drag any application from there to the workspace to switch to split screen mode.
As for the status bar, which displays the time, network connection status and remaining battery life, it is still at the top of the display, just like in standard versions of Android for smartphones. Earlier, Google also talked about the appearance in the firmware of the ability to reduce the clock widget, which in some cases could seem unwieldy even on large screens.
The company does not disclose the exact release date of the final version of Android 12L. According to its representatives, the first to switch to the latest firmware will be the owners of gadgets Samsung, Lenovo and Microsoft "later this year."
