Viber owner donates $8.7 million to Ukraine



Japanese billionaire Hiroshi Mikitani, who owns the popular Rakuten Viber messenger, has donated $8.7 million to Ukraine, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov said on Telegram.

"It's incredible to have the whole world with us," he wrote.


Viber is one of the most popular applications in Ukraine. It is installed on almost every smartphone.

Zelensky met with Nikitani at the Office of the President of Ukraine, after which Rakuten Viber decided to expand its presence in Ukraine by opening an R&D center in Kiev .
