The new Motorola Razr could be a clamshell 'in reverse'

A new Motorola patent describing the design of a foldable smartphone has been discovered in the database of the World Intellectual Property Organization. It's a clamshell like the previously released Razr and Razr 2, but with one fundamental difference.

Apparently, Motorola is planning to make a foldable clamshell smartphone that folds outward with the screen. Thus, in the folded state, it would be a fairly compact device with a screen on both sides, which would make it possible to refuse an additional screen, as in the first two Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3.

Perhaps such a solution would eliminate the problem of wrinkling on the screen at the fold, since it would be bent with a sufficiently large radius. However, another potential problem follows from this - the complete exposure of the display in any position, which is especially true for foldable devices where traditional tempered glass cannot be used.

Earlier it was reported that the new Motorola Razr will receive a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Whether it will be the same as shown in the patent is unknown.
