Smartphone manufacturer Tecno, part of Transsion Holdings, presented the world's first polychromatic photoisomeric technology. The idea is to make smartphones brighter by allowing them to change their appearance depending on external conditions.

Smartphones are already on the market that can change their color from one to another under the influence of sunlight. With its polychromatic photoisomeric technology, Tecno has gone even further. According to the company, it is based on the effect of breaking and restoring a chain of photosensitive molecular bonds under the influence of ultraviolet light. As a result, colorless molecular groups become chromogenic and then colorless again.
To put it simply, the new Tecno technology allows the smartphone to change its color not from one to another, but to several at once, which is clearly shown in the demo video. The manufacturing process of such a surface consists of 22 steps and requires nanometer-level precision. To achieve the desired result, the company conducted five thousand high-precision tests.
The timing of the start of the application of this technology in smartphones has not yet been reported. Note that Tecno recently introduced the world's first telescopic macro lens for smartphones, providing 5x optical zoom, and was the first among Android gadget manufacturers to announce its intention to use sensor-shift stabilization technology.
