New Zealand will provide $ 2 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine to support medical infrastructure and purchase food and hygiene items for the population.
According to Ukrinform with reference to Radio New Zealand , this was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Nanaia Mahuta.
It is noted that the funds in the amount of $ 2 million will be transferred to the International Committee of the Red Cross to support medical institutions in Ukraine and meet the basic needs of civilians in food and hygiene items.
"It is very disturbing to hear information about the growing number of dead and wounded. Terrible photos from Ukraine say a lot about this unfolding tragedy and emphasize the consequences of Russia's unprovoked aggression, "Makhuta commented.
The New Zealand Foreign Minister also noted that the country will continue to closely monitor Russia's actions in Ukraine and called on Moscow to return to diplomatic talks to de-escalate the conflict.
As Ukrinform reported, earlier in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Australian government imposed personal sanctions against the president and several members of the Russian government, as well as supported the disconnection of Russian banks from the SWIFT system.
On February 24, Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, and missiles are hitting Ukrainians' homes.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced. Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation in the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of all the people, courageously resist aggression. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the losses of the Russian army currently amount to about 4,500 people.
