Google's new initiative is designed to make it harder to spy on Internet users whose data is often collected by third-party companies for advertising purposes. Previously, the sandbox function was introduced for the desktop version of Chrome, and users of Android gadgets will soon be able to evaluate its work.
According to Anthony Chavez, vice president of Android security product management, the Android Privacy Sandbox will limit the amount of information shared with third parties and minimize the exchange of sensitive data between applications.
Google notes that it is impossible to completely eliminate advertising "surveillance". However, with the introduction of new technology, user-related data will be shared with third parties to a limited extent. In particular, the information needed to display targeted ads will be stored locally on the device.
Already, developers can view the initial version of the project and share feedback on the Android Developers site. During the current year, Google intends to release a beta version of the “privacy sandbox” and work on improving it during the testing process.
