The International Football Federation (FIFA) imposes a number of restrictions on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the organization.
Now, national team matches will not be held on the territory of Russia. Its "home" matches will be played without spectators on neutral territory. The Russian football team will also be banned from using the name of the team "Russia" - it will be replaced by the "Football Union of Russia". All Russian clubs will be banned from using the Russian flag and anthem at matches.
Additional measures and sanctions by FIFA will be agreed in dialogue with UEFA, the IOC and other organizations. Among them is a possible suspension from the competition, which could soon be applied if the situation does not improve.
FIFA also condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and expressed solidarity with all those affected by the war.
