Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers will soon be able to repair Face ID on iPhone XS and later without replacing the entire device. The news is reported by MacRumors.
Soon, authorized repairers will have access to TrueDepth system parts, which include all the elements of Face ID and the front camera. This will reduce the number of complete device replacements and thus Apple's negative impact on the environment.
The Face ID system appeared on the iPhone X in 2017, but this model is not included in the repair program. Parts will only be available for iPhone XS and later.
Apple Stores and Authorized Service Technicians will be able to use a special diagnostic tool to understand when it is possible to fix the Face ID system, and when you still have to change the entire iPhone. All necessary documentation and instructions will be available later.
