In early January, people usually come to their senses after holiday feasts, but large corporations, as you know, do not sleep even on weekends. The other day, Sony Corporation finally stopped hiding an awl in a bag and shared the details of a new virtual reality helmet - and at the same time announced a game for it.
The name of the device is ingenuous: PlayStation VR2. Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Management, shared its technical highlights, including 4K HDR, 110-degree viewing angle, and advanced rendering. Gamers are waiting for a resolution of 2000x2040 per eye and a frequency of 90/120 Hz.
Of the curious details, Nishino singled out the helmet's ability to track the player's actions - in particular, the built-in sensors will be able to recognize eye movements. The headset will also have recoil: thanks to the vibration drive, gamers will be able to immerse themselves in what is happening on the screen with their heads. And one more important point: VR2 can be connected to PS5 with just one cable. You can read the full technical specifications on the PlayStation Blog.
Another interesting announcement was the game Horizon Call of the Mountain - a spin-off of the action series Horizon, created specifically for the new Sony VR headset. The development teams are Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Games (the latter are responsible for the infamous The Playroom and The Persistence). The audience is waiting for a new story and a new protagonist, who on his way will meet many familiar characters from Zero Dawn.
