At the CES 2022 conference, LG Display demonstrated several proprietary developments in the field of creating transparent OLED panels at once. In addition, the vendor brought to the exhibition flexible displays of a new type, which got rid of the characteristic "wrinkles" that appear when folding.
Starting in the second quarter of 2022, LG intends to equip all OLED TVs with the new generation of OLED.EX screens. They are notable for a 30% increase in brightness compared to last year's solutions, while the thickness of the panel itself has been reduced from 6 to 4 millimeters.
Representatives of the brand once again emphasized that they are betting on transparent OLED panels in order to bridge the gap between virtual and real space. LG's current generation of displays are already capable of replacing conventional glass, while retaining the ability to display multimedia content.
LG Display specialists have worked out several scenarios for using such transparent panels as showcases for shopping centers or smart windows for offices. The company's original list also includes the Virtual Ride exercise bike, which features two vertically curved 55-inch OLED panels for a more immersive workout experience.
The company also shared the news about the development of OLED gaming displays, which have a response time ten times faster than conventional LCD panels. Finally, the vendor revealed a 17-inch foldable OLED laptop display that has virtually no folds when folded.
Representatives of LG Display noted that they are actively working on solving the key problem of IPS-screens - the lack of black depth. The 27-inch UHD monitor presented at CES 2022, according to the manufacturer, uses a special IPS-matrix, the degree of black saturation of which is 35% higher than that of previously presented models. The company has not yet announced the date of the appearance of new products in free sale.
