Exynos 2200 overtakes Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in integrated graphics power

Smartphones based on the Exynos 2200 have not yet appeared on the market, but insiders have already gained access to the results of testing the new GPU. A chip called Xclipse 920 based on AMD RDNA2 architecture was compared with Adreno 730 in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 - and the result was not in favor of Qualcomm.

The proprietary GPU supports variable refresh rates, as well as ray tracing technology. The test platform Samsung SM-S908B (presumably Galaxy S22) with 8 GB of RAM in the OpenCL discipline showed the maximum result of 9143 points. In the same graphics test, the Adreno 730 only scored 6199 points.

For comparison, the Snapdragon 888 received only 4835 “parrots” in the benchmark, and the Apple A15 Bionic became the test leader with a score of 14,556 points. It is known that the Exynos 2200 platform is made according to the 1 + 3 + 4 scheme: the main Cortex X2 core is supplemented with three Cortex-A710 and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the configuration of the Xclipse 920: according to rumors, the chip has 6 execution units (384 stream processors).

It is expected that the first smartphone based on the novelty will be the Samsung Galaxy S22, the presentation of which is scheduled for February 2022.
