The American startup Zeva Aero has been working on a prototype single-seat aircraft Zero with the possibility of vertical takeoff and landing for several years. For the first time, the company conducted flight tests that took place in unmanned mode without a person in the cockpit.
During testing, Zeva Aero made four flights. As a result, we were able to test low-speed taxi simulation, vertical climb maneuvers, and the device's ability to hover in the air in a controlled manner. The duration of all tests was a little over 4 minutes.
The developers claim that after a vertical climb, Zero is able to move in a horizontal direction and at the same time uses limited air resistance due to its design features. According to the manufacturer, the aircraft can reach speeds of about 250 km/h and travel up to 80 kilometers.
Pre-orders for the new model will be accepted after additional tests scheduled for spring 2022. The approximate cost of such an aircraft will be about $250,000.
