To date, only two launches of Angara-A5 have been carried out. The first one took place back in December 2014, and the second time the carrier was launched as part of flight design tests on December 14 last year.

The third launch, scheduled first for December 23, and then for the 24th day of this month, was canceled by the automatic launch complex. “ A minute and a half before the start of the Angara, an automation team was formed to cancel the launch, ” TASS quotes statements from those in the know.

Currently, a special commission is investigating the reasons for the cancellation of the launch. It is possible that in case of prompt elimination of the comments, the start will be carried out today, December 25.

The base for the carriers of the Angara family is the URM-1 and URM-2 universal rocket modules. Rockets are assembled from a different number of URM-1 blocks for the lower stages. One such module is used as part of the Angara-1.2 light class carriers. The maximum number of URM-1 can be a three-stage heavy missile "Angara-A5".
