iPhone 14 Max May Get OLED Screen With 120Hz Refresh Rate

We previously reported that LG will become one of the suppliers of screens for the iPhone 14. It was supposed that the company will start production of 6.7-inch matrixes with a round-cut front camera for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, however, according to the latest data from the South Korean resource The Elec, the company will also be engaged in the production of screens with "bangs" for the more affordable iPhone 14 Max.

LG has already converted to manufacture LTPO power arrays, which it used to manufacture LTPS panels for the iPhone. If this information is confirmed, the iPhone 14 Max will be the first basic iPhone with a high refresh rate. Currently, 120Hz displays are the domain of the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.

As for the iPhone 14 Max, according to leaks, it will replace the compact 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, which cannot boast of high popularity. It is assumed that the device will functionally correspond to the base iPhone 14, but will receive a screen with a larger diagonal. Apple will continue to use a 6.06-inch LTPS panel with 60Hz refresh rate in the iPhone 14, according to The Elec.

Three companies are expected to supply iPhone screens next year: Samsung, LG and China's BOE. The latter will only supply 6.06-inch displays for the base iPhone 14. The proportion of such screens will account for about 20% of the total matrix for the 2022 iPhone. LG will supply 6.7-inch displays with bangs for the iPhone 14 Max. The 6.06-inch round-cut matrix for the iPhone 14 Pro will be manufactured by Samsung. Orders for 6.7-inch panels for the iPhone 14 Pro Max will be split between Samsung and LG.
