MacBook Pro (2021)

Experts from the iFixit portal have assessed the maintainability of Apple MacBook Pro (2021) laptops. Also, in the process of disassembly, the capacity of the batteries was found out, as well as other features of the new devices.

Apple's first step towards improving the maintainability of the new MacBook Pro, according to a specialist from the iFixit resource, is the ability to easily replace the battery. The speakers became a small obstacle when removing the batteries, but nevertheless, they managed to cope with the task quickly, thanks to the use of sticky "tongues" instead of glue. As for the battery capacity, it is 99.6 and 69.6 Wh in the 16- and 14-inch models, respectively, compared with 99.8 and 58.2 Wh in the same MacBook Pro 2019 models.

The iFixit portal also noted the simplification of display replacement due to the sagging cable and a modified bracket. In addition, the modular design of USB Type-C ports, headphone jack and MagSafe will make it easier to repair laptops. However, the SD card slot and HDMI port are soldered to the motherboard, so replacing them can become costly. As mentioned in earlier reviews, increasing the amount of RAM on new laptops is not available to users.

MacBook Pro (2021) maintainability was rated 4 out of 10 on iFixit.
