From November 9, Google will change the principles of authentication in its ecosystem

Back in May, Google announced that it intends to make two-step authentication (2FA) mandatory for logging into their accounts before the end of the year. The company has now announced an exact date for the changes to take effect.

Activated 2-Step Verification requires you to receive an SMS or email with a one-time password as an additional measure to verify your identity. It is known that stealing passwords is the most common way to compromise accounts, and 2FA will help to actively fight this.

The implementation of the new measures will become mandatory and automatic from November 9th. “After entering the password, you will need to take one more action using your smartphone. Keep your phone close at hand when logging in. Two-Step Verification will be automatically activated on November 9th. If you want, you can activate this function in advance: your account is ready , ”says the tech giant.

The company previously stated that by the end of 2021 it will automatically “involve” another 150 million users of Google services in the use of 2FA and force it to include 2 million YouTube channel authors.
