Facebook allows the authorities of Kazakhstan to independently filter "malicious content"

It became known that the company Facebook will provide the Kazakh authorities with "direct exclusive" access to the "Content Notification System" (CRS) to "counter harmful content with an emphasis on protecting children's rights on the Internet . " Information about this is published on the website of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Access to the CRS will allow the agency to independently flag content that violates the social network's policies or violates the laws of the country. The report notes that Kazakhstan became the first Central Asian state to gain access to CRS and has already organized a direct communication channel with Facebook, which is responsible for content policy.

It is also known that on October 28, representatives of Facebook held a training session for representatives of the Kazakhstani department, dedicated to working with CRS, the content policy of the American company and community standards. Already at the beginning of this month, specialists of the department will begin to use the "Content notification system". The regulations for the permanent interaction mechanism were also worked out and approved by the parties.

The ministry expressed confidence that the use of CRS will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work aimed at countering the spread of illegal content on Facebook and Instagram. Recall that in September, the Kazakh authorities approved a bill that will make it mandatory to register foreign social networks in the country and create their representation on the territory of the state. In case of refusal to comply with these requirements, foreign platforms are threatened with blocking in Kazakhstan.
