One of Microsoft's popular open source applications has received an update to match the design of the new Windows 11 operating system. It is the Windows Terminal tool, which is a powerful terminal application for users of command line tools such as PowerShell or Command Prompt.
The images of the Windows Terminal design have been posted on GitHub, which means that a corresponding update may soon be added to Windows 11. The updated design of the application makes it more consistent with the appearance of other built-in tools such as Paint, Notepad, Microsoft Store, etc. It is also possible that until the updated Windows Terminal appears in Windows 11, its design will be changed.
The source notes that the latest major update to Windows Terminal 1.10 brought quite a few improvements to the command line tool. For example, the developers added the ability to edit actions from the settings UI. Users can also minimize the command line tool to the notification area by using the appropriate commands.
The updated Windows Terminal is expected to arrive in Windows 11 and Windows 10 at a later date. At the same time, Microsoft continues to work on updating the design of the PowerToys set of utilities, which will also visually better integrate with the company's new software platform.
