Xiaomi launches 120W GaN charger

Xiaomi has expanded its range of chargers. The new power supply is manufactured using gallium nitride. This is not Xiaomi's first GaN-based wall charger, but unlike its predecessors, it boasts 120W of power.

The use of GaN in power supplies increases their energy efficiency, reduces heat dissipation and allows them to be significantly reduced in size compared to traditional silicon chargers. At the same time, Xiaomi claims that the new charger is equipped with a planar transformer, which is responsible for even distribution of heat and excludes overheating of the unit, despite the high power.

The novelty also received support for a number of protection functions, and its housing is made according to the UL94-V0 standard. To connect to smartphones and other gadgets, Xiaomi GaN is equipped with a USB Type-C port. According to the company, the newly introduced Redmi Note 11 Pro + can be fully charged in just 15 minutes using the new power supply.

Xiaomi GaN 120W will go on sale on November 1st for $ 47.
