It became known that the popular short video service TikTok has begun testing a new tool with which users can leave tips to content authors directly on their profiles. This feature is currently available to a limited number of platform users.
Blogger Jera Bean was one of the first to notice the new feature. She applied to participate in testing and after a while TikTok approved it. According to the available data, content authors who have at least 100,000 subscribers, meet the age requirements and agree to the proposed terms of use of the tip feature are currently eligible to participate in the test. It is not yet clear whether the service will approve all suitable candidates or whether it is supposed to be tested with a limited number of bloggers at this stage.
After approval of the application, a new button "Tips" appears in the content author's account. With its help, users can support bloggers by transferring tips to them in the amount of $ 5, $ 10, $ 15, or an arbitrary amount of at least $ 1. The platform allows you to send tips anonymously, and there is no commission for these transfers. Only users who have reached the age of majority will be able to tip bloggers.
“We are always thinking about new ways to benefit our community and make TikTok better,” a service representative commented on the matter. At the same time, it was not announced how long it is planned to test the tip function, and in which regions it is available.
