The surge in demand for semiconductor components is forcing many manufacturers to increase their production volumes. Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics division is no exception, so this manufacturer of printed circuit boards of various assortments is ready to invest more than $ 900 million in expansion of production capacity. As noted by The Korea Times, it became known from unofficial sources that Samsung Electro-Mechanics will invest more than $ in expanding its Vietnamese facility to increase PCB production for FC-BGA chips … The Vietnamese site of the company is one of the candidates for obtaining investments, but not the only one, so the final decision has not yet been made.

Korean sources explain that the company may be related to such initiatives AMD and Intel, which are interested in eliminating the shortage of components for the release of their own products. The FC-BGA design, which implies mounting the assembled chip directly on a printed circuit board, is in demand in various market segments. Back in May, Intel allegedly approached Samsung with a proposal to split the cost of increasing production of specialized PCBs.
