With the code name IronHeart, Apple wants the CarPlay app to have access to various functions of cars so you can control them. These functions include the tachometer, speedometer, fuel instruments, seats, temperature, defrost systems and audio settings (surround sound, equalizers, tweters, subwoofers, etc).
