Popular music service Spotify has begun testing a new $ 0.99 per month Spotify Plus subscription. The tariff plan will not allow you to get rid of ads, but it will still provide some advantages over using the platform for free.
The new subscription assumes the presence of ads, but removes the limit on the number of tracks that can be flipped per hour. Users can also select specific songs to listen to, instead of being limited to flipping through the available albums and playlists. Obviously, the new tariff should attract users who want to reduce the level of restrictions on the free mode of interaction with the service.
The free option for Spotify as it stands has been around since 2018 and imposes a number of restrictions. Users cannot skip more than six tracks per hour, and they are offered songs from 15 selected playlists to listen to. The new tariff plan will allow to remove some restrictions, making interaction with the service more comfortable.
Spotify confirmed testing of the new subscription, but noted that it could be launched in a different form to the masses. “We are always working to improve the capabilities of Spotify and regularly conduct tests to inform our decisions. We are currently testing an ad-supported plan with a limited number of our users. Some tests ultimately pave the way for new suggestions and improvements, while others only provide new knowledge. We have no further information at this time, ” Spotify said in a statement.
