LG has unveiled its first audio system designed specifically for monitor gamers. The device supports surround sound technologies, has a built-in microphone for keeping in touch with friends and is equipped with easy-to-use controls.
The LG UltraGear GP9 is a small soundbar that simply sits on a table under the monitor. Nothing is reported about the number of speakers inside and their power, but it is known about the use of a Hi-Fi Quad DAC ES9038PRO digital-to-analog converter. Declared Hi-Res Audio certification and support for 7.1 surround sound and DTS Headphone: X when headphones are connected.
The speaker supports LG's proprietary 3D Gaming Sound technology with a specially developed HRTF algorithm that adapts the sound depending on the genre of the game. So, users can switch between FPS and RTS modes. As you might guess, the former is focused on shooters, and the latter is focused on strategies. In addition, the built-in microphone with echo cancellation enables voice chat without using a headset.
A variety of ports are provided, including an optical interface, AUX and USB Type-C, and Bluetooth. The speaker itself can work wirelessly. In this case, the charge of the built-in battery lasts for 5 hours of continuous use.
The LG UltraGear GP9 will go on sale in September for about $ 471.
