At the CES 2021 digital trade show in January, Gigabyte unveiled new gaming laptops powered by Intel Tiger Lake processors and GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards. Now Gigabyte has quietly launched its first AMD-powered laptop at retail. Namely Gigabyte A7 X1, which appeared in European retail at a price of € 1.999.
Of course, the main difference between the 17.3-inch gaming laptop is the processor. For the first time, Gigabyte opted for a Ryzen 5000 CPU, namely the Ryzen 9 5900 HX . It relies on eight Zen 3 cores with 16 threads, frequencies ranging from 3.3 (base) to 4.6 GHz (Boost), not without 16 MB of L3 cache. For less graphics-intensive tasks, the AMD Vega 8 iGPU is built in, AMD officially indicates the TDP as 45+ watts.
For games, AMD's integrated graphics are no longer interesting. Here Gigabyte A7 X1 offers NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 with 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory , and we have an analogue of Max-P with a full TGP of 140 W. Clock frequencies must be at least 1.560 MHz. Various proprietary technologies are supported such as Max-Q, Dynamic Boost 2.0, Resizable Bar or Optimus to complement the AMD processor.
As you can see, the Gigabyte A7 X1 provides more than sufficient computing performance for even the most graphics-intensive games. The diagonal is 17.3 ", the native resolution is 1.920 x 1.080 pixels with a high refresh rate of 144 Hz. The IPS panel is anti-reflective and covers 72% of the NTSC color space. Gigabyte has traditionally opted for very thin bezels, only 3 mm.
We also note 16 GB of DDR4 memory at a frequency of 3.200 MHz, a high-speed NVMe SSD of 512 GB. The 17 "case has room for an additional 2.5" drive and two M.2 SSDs along with the installed one. There is one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.2 Gen1 and Gen2 Type-A each, HDMI 2.0 and miniDisplayPort 1.4 video outputs. headset connection, there are two 3.5 mm audio jacks, and there is also a 2.5 Gbps LAN connector.
The WiFi 6 module and Bluetooth 5.0 are responsible for the wireless connection. A 49 Wh battery is installed in the case. Dimensions Gigabyte A7 X1 are 396 x 262 x 32.4 mm, weight - about 2.5 kg. The laptop is equipped with an RGB backlit island keyboard and two 2W speakers with Nahimic 3 support.
