Apple has updated the Mac Pro with the latest AMD Radeon Pro graphics

Apple has updated the Mac Pro with new graphics card modules that are based on AMD's Radeon Pro W6000 series graphics and are reasonably priced.

Continued support for the Mac Pro by adding new GPUs to the proprietary MacPro Development Module or MPX system shows that the Cupertinos are still committed to their new, modular design.

AMD unveiled its new graphics cards in June this year, promising the W6800 up to 79% better performance than its predecessor. Now Apple claims that these graphics cards in MPX format can be up to 84% faster when running Octane X. This performance improvement is up to 23% when using DaVInci Resolve.

These graphics cards have different speeds and functions, so they are available to users at different prices. However, Apple adds an HDMI 2.0 port and four Thunderbolt 3 ports to all of them, regardless of the GPU.

The price of these graphic modules is as follows:

Radeon Pro W6800X MPX Module: $ 2,400 price increase with 32GB of GDDR6 memory and up to 512GB / s of memory bandwidth. Up to 16 Single-Precision power tripleps or 32 Half-Precision telescopes.

Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX Module: $ 4,600 price increase for two connected graphics, each with 32GB of GDDR6 memory and a maximum of 512GB / s of memory bandwidth. Maximum 32 Single-Precision power flops or 60.4 Half-Precision flops with two modules installed.

Radeon Pro W6900X MPX Module: $ 5600 price increase with 32GB of GDDR6 memory and up to 512GB / s of memory bandwidth. Maximum 22.2 Single-Precision Power Traflops or 44.4 Half-Precision Traflops.

According to Apple, these new modules will replace the MPX graphics modules of the Radeon Pro Vega II. Apparently, it is no longer possible to order these graphics in new configurations, but they are provided in separate kits for current customers.
