The genius helicopter successfully flew 160 meters on Mars in its eighth flight

NASA's "genius" helicopter made its eighth flight over Mars as researchers continued to assess the conditions for the aircraft to be used in future Red Planet missions. In his latest flight, Genius covered a distance of 160 meters.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which oversees Mars' current mission, tweeted that it had completed another successful flight genius. In this tweet, a video has been shared that shows the shadow of a NASA helicopter on the surface of the Red Planet.

NASA says the genius flew at 77.4 seconds on its last flight, moving 160 meters before landing at a point about 133 meters from the "endurance" rover. Of course, this flight was not the longest genius operation, because this helicopter had already traveled a distance of 266 meters on its fourth flight on May 29th . Also, the genius hovered 139.9 seconds in its sixth flight in time to break the record.

NASA's 1.8 kg helicopter has reached a speed of 4 meters per second at best and has risen to a height of 10 meters. NASA believes that by equipping high-quality cameras with a more advanced version of genius, the helicopter could be used in future missions to Mars and other planets.

Such helicopters can be used to search for safe and unobstructed routes and allow climbers such as endurance to travel faster on the planets. Genius and similar birds are able to prevent climbers from entering dangerous and steep areas and help make missions easier.

The genius helicopter has already exceeded expectations. In the next step, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory wants to send new instructions to the genius to send this helicopter to more dangerous missions. NASA wants to see what the maximum power and limitations of genius are.
